Binaries and Boxes at Drama for Life
For the fourth year in a row, 2nd Sight returns to Drama for Life located at University Corner to do Binaries and Boxes with another group of young and bright students. Drama for Life is an organisation that believes drama can be used to enhance the whole life world of a person. The training was facilitated by Brian, Delene’s main co-facilitator and Avri, her Intern. It was a large group of students from a diverse range of subjects with a shared love for the dramatic arts. They were very engaged in the two hour process.

Body Mapping with the Breast Health Care Foundation
Just as she got back from breast surgery herself, Delene facilitated a beautiful two hour self-care intervention for nurses and care workers who support women with breast cancer. Delene, shadowed by her intern, Avri Spilka, joined a handful of nurses at the Breast Health Foundation at the Helen Joseph Hospital. The Foundation caters to women and their loved ones who have been diagnosed with and are being treated for breast cancer. The women shared their own experiences of breast cancer and how their own journeys inspire their work. Delene’s Body Mapping intervention allowed the nurses to explore what physical and emotional issues they may need to give attention to, so they can continue to work in a mentally and emotionally healthy way.

Learning Circles & Building Bridges II Workshops
The Hoezit visits culminated in a workshop attended by 83 people from 12 countries at the Farm Inn just outside Pretoria (complete with both live and stuffed white lions!). Delene shared the feedback from the visits with the workshop participants and helped facilitate the workshop which was hosted and facilitated by a crack team from the COC. Delene and Brian individually presented Binaries and Boxes trainings with individuals from LGBTI organisations and health care professionals across Africa. 2nd Sights intern, Avri Spilka, filmed and documented the process, and recently submitted a report to the COC. What an incredible adventure, learning experience and privilege to share with so many people working in LGBTI health.
